Scott W. Ackman

Scott Ackman is a partner at Health Care Futures L.P. with 15 years of healthcare experience in managed care contracting, operations management and business development. Scott has served a variety of clients in various capacities related to physician compensation planning, financial feasibility testing, payer positioning, capital/capacity availability, mergers and acquisitions, physician – health system partnerships, and strategic planning.

Prior to joining Health Care Futures, Scott served in a variety of clinical and managerial roles including provider relations manager for a national, commercial, insurer and regional accounts manager for a medical device provider.

Scott received a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Minnesota.

David A. Anderson

David A. Anderson is a founding principal of Health Care Futures L.P., a strategy consulting company dedicated to superior strategic and implementation support for leading regional health systems, academic medical centers, physician practices, and health care associations. Dave elected early retirement as a partner with KPMG in June 1996 to establish this new consulting company and capability.

Mr. Anderson is an active writer, lecturer, and analyst on the subject of regional health systems, strategic planning, and mergers and acquisitions. He is the co-author of two books (along with Dr. Stephen Shortell, formerly of Northwestern University) entitled Remaking Health Care in America: Building Organized Delivery Systems (1996) and Remaking Health Care in America: The Evolution of Organized Delivery Systems (2000). Dave has addressed organizations such as the American Hospital Association, the Catholic Health Association, the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the American College of Health Care Executives. While at KPMG, Mr. Anderson completed a four-year benchmark research study with Dr. Stephen Shortell and nine leading United States regional health systems to study and evaluate how regional health systems add value.

Mr. Anderson obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota and earned his MBA degree from the University of Iowa. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Stephanie A. Hollandsworth

Stephanie Hollandsworth is a Partner with Health Care Futures L.P. and has nearly ten years of healthcare management consulting experience. Stephanie specializes in mergers and acquisitions, affiliations, clinical program development and business and strategic planning. Her client base includes integrated delivery systems, academic medical centers, community hospitals, regional health plans and physician group practices, whom she has assisted in responding to a variety of strategic and organizational opportunities and challenges.

Stephanie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in French from Miami University. She earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, where she served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Commerce. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Pennsylvania, and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Bar Association (Health Law Section), and other health and law related organizations.

Robert B. Kaufman

Robert B. Kaufman is a Partner with Health Care Futures L.P. He has more than 25 years of management consulting experience with health care providers, focusing his efforts on organizational strategic positioning and performance improvement. Bob has served a wide array of clients in multiple settings across the country including integrated health care systems, academic medical centers, community hospitals, faculty practice plans and multi-specialty physician groups. In addition, he has directed and facilitated multiple affiliation, ambulatory care, primary care network, product line and managed care positioning studies.

Prior to joining Health Care Futures, Bob was a senior manager in the strategy practice of another major national health care consulting firm. He also spent several years with a large health care system in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market. Bob received both his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Minnesota. In addition to his consulting career, Bob has served for several years on the board of a large not-for-profit long-term care and senior services organization.

Cordell J. Mack

Cordell J. Mack is a partner at Health Care Futures L.P. with over 17 years of experience in health care management and consulting. Cordell specializes in helping provider clients with strategic and financial needs. Cordell’s clinical background as a licensed physical therapist has allowed him to develop an expertise in working with physicians, specifically in the hospital – physician integration space. He has served in a variety of leadership and administrative roles including owner/director of a sports medicine rehabilitation facility and administrator for a multi-disciplinary clinic.

A frequent author and speaker, Cordell is a regular participant in regional and national HFMA and MGMA events on the topics of physician integration, service line joint ventures, and group performance. Cordell graduated with a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s degree in Business from the University of Iowa. Cordell is a member of MGMA.

Edward J. McGrath

Edward J. McGrath is a partner and founding principal of Health Care Futures L.P., a strategy consulting company dedicated to superior strategic and implementation support for leading regional health systems, academic medical centers, physician practices, and health care associations. Health Care Futures focuses on long-term relationships with a core group of clients, working as partners in a successful team.

Ed specializes in physician relationships/partnerships strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, strategic direction of cardiology and oncology, service-line strategy, clinical co-management, and financial analyses. Ed’s client base includes, but is not limited to, integrated delivery systems; academic medical centers; single- and multi-specialty physician group practices; and, managed care and contracting organizations. His background includes 13 years with KPMG where he spent the last 16 months of his KPMG career as a partner in the National Health Care Strategy Practice.

Mr. McGrath has a Bachelor’s degree in both Accounting and Business Administration from Augustana College. He earned his Master’s degree in Health Administration from St. Louis University. He is an active speaker at various health forums on topics such as strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, physician integration and managed care. He is a member of various fund raising committees and boards including the Foundation Board of St. Joseph Hospital and Health Centers. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Hospital Association, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association among other health related organizations.
